One World 2011 is a global project that aims to build bridges of understanding and reestablish cultural awareness between Muslim nations and the United States.
By sharing knowledge and experiences, establishing common ground, and forging new relationships and partnerships, we can help ensure a strong global economy and security for the next generation.
This mission will be achieved by hosting a series of multi-national cultural and sports events beginning in Seattle and the Puget Sound Area in Washington, in September 2011, ten years after the devastating events of September 11, 2001. Another series of events will follow in a selected Muslim country in 2013.
These multi-national events, modeled on 1990’s Goodwill Games, will encompass youth exchanges and home-stays, multi-national athletic contests, multi-cultural performances and exhibitions, science and social entrepreneurship, and public and private partnerships.
The eyes of the world will be focused on the largest series of events ever to take place between the Muslim world and the United States.
The event will make a significant economic impact nationally and internationally.
This visionary event will be produced by the same team of humanitarian entrepreneurs that brought the Goodwill Games to Seattle – an event widely credited for helping to end the Cold War.
We believe the time is right to pursue attitudes and actions that will support the change, world peace and economic prosperity that people in both regions want and need. One World 2011 is a hopeful, bold and courageous answer to a crucial social, political, and economic opportunity.
